A Middle Eastern blend of spices, and a must-have in many spice cupboards. Our Saffronice Za’atar is Matty’s own recipe and is a blend of sumac, sesame seeds, oregano, thyme, marjoram, cumin, ground coriander and sea salt.
Try it mixed with a little olive oil as a marinade, or spread the za’atar and olive oil mix onto pitta bread before toasting. Or stir through some baba ghanoush (it’s great with eggplant and zucchini dishes). It also pairs beautifully with poultry or lamb, stirred through yoghurt for a savoury dip or dusted onto feta cheese. In the mood for a salad? Blend a little za’atar with lemon juice and olive oil for a simple yummy dressing. You can even have za’atar with pasta, mixed through with olive oil, lots of black pepper and parmesan. Yallah!
